Important HDD Info !

  We receive many emails on how to Run the Slim PSTwo with a Hard Drive. Well there are 2 ways to do this.

1. With USB Extreme - Works with the USB port on your PSTwo.  Downfalls of USB Extreme :

You must acquire a external HDD enclosure with a HDD $$$ - Unit works over existing USB 1.1 ports. So the speed of running your Apps/Games will be be the same as running them from your DVD drive !

2. With HD Connect - Adds IDE compatibility to version 12-13 consoles.  Downfalls of HD Connect :

You must hardwire this unit into place with nearly 2 times the amount of wires/soldering that is required for a modchip. - Unless you purchase the HD Combo $$$  there is still the issue of the HDD sitting outside the console. - HD Combo requires the same amount of hardwiring as HD Connect. - And both are only know to work on versions 12-13 !

    So if you want a Playstation 2 that is truly HDD Compatible then we recommend the PS2 console. Find them here > PS2 consoles - HDD compatible

  Early version 12 PSTwo units all sufferer from various problems. One of them being heat related. Network connections would be dropped and games would freeze during play. Newer slim version PSTwo's have a different cooling fan inside but there still seems to be a problem when dissipating heat from the unit.

  We tested a unit that was shutting down in 3 and 4 hour intervals of use. Believing heat to be the culprit, we disassembled the unit and installed a fan modification. Now when the unit is turned on there is a very noticeable sound due to the increased fan speed. While the fan is still running within its limitations, it allows nearly 3x the cooling efficiency over the original setup.. We believe this trick should be done on all Slim versions regardless of version.

  We then ran the unit again for 3 and 4 hour intervals and experienced no black screens or lockups. So we are going to  install this trick on all PSTwo systems from this time forward.

Note : To get the maximum life from your PSTwo, try running the unit in a clean area and on a hard flat surface.

 

Our Ps2 and PSTwo consoles do not have any modchips installed. Only case, fan and led modifications have been done.
